Google - Good

This is a website with a simplistic interface that simply displays a search bar and often an image with google's name in it. While the appearance is simple, the search engine results provided by Google outperform Bing and Yahoo.com. Google search engine results are more relevant, and the discrepancy in performance is made obvious as the amount of input placed in the search engine increases.

Furthermore, Google provides access to other functionality on this page, however unlike Yahoo.com they do not besiege users with advertisements and media that slow down the page. In addition to this, google.com has access to so many different functions that it is hard for people to not access google more than once a day. This is a search engine that everyone should take note of, as it receives more than 3 billion search inqueries and still works consistently. This is an excellent website that is simplistic and reliable with few advertisements.

Youtube - Good

This is a great website that allows users to watch videos at their leisure. The search bar is easily accessible and the functions on this website are easily understood as they come up with titles that accurately describe their function. This website allows users to search for interesting videos, read comments from other users, and post videos/comments of their own. These simple concepts have been properly expounded on the website, turning it into a success.

Nevertheless, the amount of unwanted commercials on this website has increased over the years. The only negative point that I can bring to attention is the amount of advertisements on this platform, yet these advertisements are the main source of revenue for this website that is providing its users with free content. Of course, the only way to escape this annoyance is by paying a fee to the website, but I must say that Youtube has done a good job on not only making their website user friendly but also adding interesting features to users that have a paid subscription.

The appearance of the website is simple, yet perfunctory. It does not take long for videos to load on youtube and they provide quality picture with 720 or higher quality being available for their videos. If you want to see what a website should look like, check out youtube.com .

Expedia - Good

A website that allows customers to travel for a low price. Expedia offers what many travelers are looking for, a cheap and expedient way to travel. This website allows the user to look for flights, hotels, and cars on it's main page. However, it takes time for these deals to properly appear on the page. Furthermore, their search filters are not listed until after your first search and they are not made quite apparent on the side of the page.

All in all, we have a website that cross-references prices between different airlines, hotels and more, with a search filter function that isn't made readily available until after your first search. This is still better than other competitors, such as the Arlines themselves and websites like kayak.com that are clunky in appearance. I recommend Expedia.com as a nice website with a nice template and easy to use search engine, however more search filters should be made apparent to users before displaying results that apparently garner towards the user's interest.

Animelon - Good/Bad

This is a great website that has taken an already popular topic such as anime and turned it into a study resource for those who are learning Japanese. Animelon.com is a good website that allows users to watch anime with English, Hiragana, Katakana, and Japanese subtitles. This is great reading practice for people who are studying the language, and what made this website stand far above other competitors was the fact that you could click on subtitles and the meaning of the word you clicked on would appear. This is absolutely astounding!

Upon discovering this website, I almost cried tears of joy! Nevertheless, as I began using this website more often I began to notice issues with the website. Due to the number of subtitle options made available and the transcripts that are loaded alongside every episode, it would take eons for a video to load. I am exaggerating, however the videos on this website do not load as quickly as a youtube video. Furthermore, this website has a clunky main page filled with pictures of different anime that you could watch. I believe a different or more subtle presentation could have been used, because the current style makes it take a long time for the main page to load.

Finally, while this website is amazing it presents inaccurate information at times. For example, the subtitle or meaning of the subtitle may be completely wrong. Nonetheless, this is the only website I have seen provide anime episodes with hiragana and katakana subtitles, along with clickable subtitles. So, if you want to check out this website feel free to do so! It's a little slow though.
